Make-up and FX
I have been
interested in the theatre and film industry since a very early age,
with my first involvement with the theatre at the age of four.
However, I am not just interested in the performing side of things
but also in the effects that are used
to create the
finished product.
I have recently
finished two years at college studying for an
IHBC diploma in " Theatrical and media
makeup "
I completed the course in
one year, but stayed on for another to gain more
experience.
I also attended an A-level course in
"Film Studies" which was good fun but very hard work.
During the two years that I have
been attending the Media makeup classes I have gained a lot of
experience and learned new techniques in creating special makeup
effects. Prior to attending the classes I had been involved in makeup
as a hobby at FHODS and also at "St.Johns Ambulance" creating
casualty makeup when I was younger.
In June I competed in a national
makeup competition at London's (England) "Olympiad" building which I
didn't win but came very close. I also hope to attend a new course at
my local college to study "BODY PAINTING" next term.
Helvis
This is a Makeup style I
created myself with a little help from a friend called Dale who was
on the same course.
It involves covering the
model's face with liquid latex and tissue, applying heat to quicken
drying time and to add with the wrinkled effect, then blending the
applied makeup to the desired finish.
I feel it creates a
zombie-like effect that can also be used for burnt effects.
(It's a pain to get off and
removed half the skin on my face whilst doing so)
THE
HEAD
The above picture is of a
makeup I did on myself again with help from Dale, using the same
techique as above.
This time a strong skull cap
was needed to cover my hair (Which was long at the time)
enabling us to used the
effect all over the head. (Another painfull removal)
FREDDY
If there are any
members of Fhods reading this then they may remember when I did this
makeup for a Halloween party at Fhods youth
section on
myself.
It's an attempt at
"Freddy kruger" of The nightmare on elm street fame.
It took me six
hours to put on and two hours to remove afterwards.
I used the same
idea as the makeups in the pictures above, but increased it to cover
all my head and shoulders. (This was the most painfull of all to
remove, as it removed lots of hair)
